BOARD OF ASSESSMENT APPEALS

BOONE COUNTY BOARD OF ASSESSMENT APPEALS exists for the sole purpose of arbitrating real property assessment disputes between the Property Valuation Administrator (PVA) and the Owner/Taxpayer of the real property. KRS 133.120

If an Owner/Taxpayer of real property disagrees with an assessment placed on the property by the PVA, the Owner/Taxpayer must contact the PVA Office to request a conference.

If the PVA and the Owner/Taxpayer cannot resolve the dispute on the assessment, then the Owner/Taxpayer must fill out  LOCAL BOARD APPEAL FORM. The Appeal Form and the PVA’s Conference Form must be submitted to the Boone County Clerk no later than one business day following the conclusion of the open inspection period per KRS 133.045.
Appeals must be received by 4 p.m. on May 21, 2024.

Appeals can be returned in the following ways:

  1. Mailed to County Clerk’s office at P.O. Box 874, Burlington KY 41005
  2. Dropped off in – person at our Burlington Location 2950 Washington St. Burlington KY 41005

Hearings are generally informal. Both the PVA and the Owner/Taxpayer present evidence to substantiate their respective values.

BRING ALL DOCUMENTATION IN SUPPORT OF YOUR CLAIM OF VALUE TO THE APPEAL HEARING.

THE BOONE COUNTY BOARD OF ASSESSMENT APPEALS WILL BE RECORDED PER; KRS 133.120(12) Taxpayers shall have the right to make audio recordings of the hearing before the county board of assessment appeals. The property valuation administrator may make similar audio recordings only if prior written notice is given to the taxpayer. The taxpayer shall be entitled to a copy of the department’s recording as provided in KRS 61.874.

The findings of the Board will be sent to the Owner/Taxpayer as well as the Department of Revenue.
